Pangasinan Poll Workers Receive Election Honoraria Ahead of Schedule
PANGASINAN — The Commission on Elections in Pangasinan reported the disbursement of honoraria to 80% of the teachers who served as poll workers during the Oct. 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). Out of more than 22,000 teachers, a majority have received their payments as of Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the provincial election supervisor of the Commission on Elections in Pangasinan, in a phone interview, the aim is to complete the honoraria distribution by Nov. 10. This target date is ahead of the Nov. 14 deadline set by law, which stipulates that such payments should be made within 15 days following the election.
Salas pointed out that while most of the poll workers in the smaller towns and cities have received the full amount of their honoraria, those in larger cities are still undergoing the process. He noted that the honoraria amounts had increased by PHP4,000 from the previous BSKE, setting the current honoraria for the chairman of the electoral board at PHP10,000 and PHP9,000 for the board members.
Additionally, Salas took the opportunity to remind all BSKE candidates of their obligation to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) by Nov. 29, which falls 30 days post-elections. The Oct. 30 BSKE saw more than 57,000 candidates vying for positions across the province, with the electoral process involving 6,330 clustered precincts catering to 2.1 million registered voters in Pangasinan.
