The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the concreting of a 1.22-km. section of the Quezon Industrial Highway in Barangay Mayao Parada, Lucena City, which would alleviate traffic congestion on key national roads. DPWH-Quezon 2nd District information officer, engineer Evaresto C. Malones, confirmed the project's timely completion. 'This road will facilitate easier and faster access between the agri-industrial zones of Batangas province and the agricultural lands of Quezon province,' Malones said in a phone interview Friday. The PHP93.6 million project was funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act under the Convergence and Special Support Program-SIPAG-Access Roads and Bridges. The new road segment is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on major routes, including Daang Maharlika, Manila South Road Old Route, Quezon Eco-Tourism Road, and Lucena-Dalahican Port Roads. Malones noted that the road would also improve access for travelers and freight moving to th e islands of Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (Mimaropa) through the nearby Dalahican and Talao-Talao ports. Additional road projects are set to be inaugurated by the end of the year, he added. Source: Philippines News Agency
