Post: Ocean Week Brunei Advances Marine Innovation with Conference

Bandar Seri Begawan: The weekly Ocean Week Brunei, held in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE), continued with the Ocean Sustainability Conference at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, drawing over 250 participants for discussions on ocean health, coastal protection, and marine innovation. Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, highlighted the country’s leadership in the blue economy and marine sustainability during her welcoming remarks. Several foreign envoys to Brunei Darussalam were in attendance, underscoring the event’s international significance.

According to Radio Television Brunei, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Poni Divers and Clean Valley CIC from Canada to launch Southeast Asia’s first bio-algae filter and develop a circular ocean economy model in the region. The signing was witnessed by Her Excellency Ambra Dickie, the High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei, marking a significant step towards regional marine innovation and cooperation.
