The National Privacy Commission (NPC) on Friday received a bomb threat through its official Facebook page, prompting its employees to vacate office premises at the PICC in Pasay City. NPC commissioner John Henry Naga said they are looking into the credibility and origin of the threat. "I want to assure the public that we are taking this threat very seriously, and we have implemented all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of our premises and personnel," he said in a statement. The comment to a Facebook post on the signing of a memorandum of understanding with telecom firms was posted shortly before noon. It says, "Time bomb set on your building starts now." Naga said such threats against the NPC would not deter them from doing their mandate, noting that the agency plays a "critical" role in safeguarding the privacy rights of protecting personal data of individuals. "Our work is vital in fostering trust in the digital landscape, and we will not be deterred by any acts of intimidation or threats," he said.
