According to Radio Television Brunei, the company was found to have constructed storage facilities and used the walkway area, parking bays, landscaped area, and the driveway to display goods for sale without Planning Permission. The enforcement action was carried out pursuant to Section 39(1)(a) of the Act, which empowers the Planning Authority to enter the site and undertake all necessary measures, including demolition, restoration works, and removal of property located on the land.
The public was informed that all costs and expenses incurred by the Planning Authority in executing the enforcement action will be recovered from the company as a civil debt. The Planning Authority emphasised that strict enforcement action will continue to be taken against any party that fails to comply with the prevailing planning laws. Members of the public and premises owners are strongly advised to adhere to planning requirements at all times and to obtain the necessary planning permission prior to carrying out any development or land use activities.
