NKTI Investigates Internal Links to Alleged Organ Trafficking Ring

MANILA — The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) announced on Tuesday that it has initiated an internal investigation into alleged organ trafficking involving one of its nurses who is reportedly the leader of a gang engaged in buying and selling human organs.

According to Philippines News Agency, the investigation follows the National Bureau of Investigation’s recent arrest of three individuals in Bulacan implicated in the organ trade. The institute acknowledged that the nurse, currently at large, is employed at NKTI and has taken steps to address the situation internally. In its statement, the institute emphasized its commitment to legitimate practices in organ donation and transplantation, urging the public to avoid unauthorized transactions purportedly linked to the hospital.

NKTI, recognized as the National Specialty Center for Renal Health and Organ Transplantation, reaffirmed its adherence to legal and ethical standards in its operations. The institute also encouraged patients and stakeholders to rely solely on official sources for information regarding its services and activities, stressing the importance of transparency and trust in its operations.
