Nine IBTE Students Join Maritime Cadetship Programme in Jerudong

Jerudong: Nine students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education have embarked on a significant step towards becoming professional Deck Officers by signing up for the Maritime Cadetship Programme. This joint initiative, undertaken by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with IBTE, was part of the Brunei Darussalam Maritime Week 2025 celebrations held at BRIDEX, Jerudong.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony was attended by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. These cadets, who are currently pursuing a Diploma in Nautical Studies at the Brunei Maritime Academy, IBTE, started their course in July 2025. The programme is designed to equip them with essential academic knowledge, practical training, and professional skills necessary to serve on both national and international vessels.
