NBTC Announces Regional Championships for High School and Under-19 Club Teams
PASAY CITY, MANILA – The National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) is set to launch regional championships in 2024, providing top high school and under-19 club teams with a new competitive platform. The announcement was made by NBTC program director Eric Altamirano during a press launch at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, which will also host the NBTC National Finals in March 2024.
According to Philippines News Agency, the regional championships will begin in Laoag with the North Luzon regionals scheduled for January 18-21 at the Centennial Arena. Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Manotoc expressed excitement about hosting the inaugural regional championship. Following this, the Mindanao regionals will take place at the Sarangani Sports Training Center in Alabel from February 1-4. The Visayas regionals are set for February 15-18 at the Cebu City Coliseum, and the South Luzon regional championship will be held at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum from February 29 to March 3. Sixty-eight teams from local city qualifiers will compete in these regional championships, vying for four spots in each region for the national finals. The national finals will see these teams compete against top teams from Metro Manila and invited foreign clubs. Select games from the regional championships will be streamed live on various platforms including the Smart Sports and NBTC Facebook pages and the Smart Live Stream app.
