Nationwide Munajat Night Marks Sultan of Brunei’s 78th Birthday
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, BRUNEI — Brunei celebrated His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday with a Nationwide Munajat Night, an event filled with prayers and reflections on the theme of ‘Hijrah’ or transition. The celebration, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, took place at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, who delivered the night’s tazkirah, the spirit of Hijrah underlines the Sultan’s leadership, which has brought significant changes and advancements to the nation. The event was attended by cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, and other dignitaries. Notable moments included the reading of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs, and the reading of Doa Munajat by Awang Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council.
