Multiple Weather Systems Expected to Bring Rains Across the Philippines

MANILA – The Philippines is set to experience varied weather conditions due to the influence of three different weather systems, according to the latest update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). In its 4 a.m. bulletin on Saturday, PAGASA detailed how the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), the shear line in the eastern section of the Visayas, and the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan,’ will impact weather across the archipelago.

According to Philippines News Agency, The weather bureau reported that the LPA was last observed at 605 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. This system, along with the shear line, is expected to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas, as well as in Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the Davao Region.

Concurrently, the northeast monsoon is set to bring cloudy skies with light rains over areas including Cagayan Valley, Apayao, and the Bicol Region. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also due to the influence of the northeast monsoon.

The forecast for the rest of Mindanao indicates partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, likely resulting from localized thunderstorms.

Additionally, strong winds and rough seas are expected to prevail over Luzon and the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao. The rest of the Philippine archipelago will likely face light to moderate wind speeds and slight to moderate sea conditions.

PAGASA also provided specific temperature ranges for various key locations: Metro Manila is expected to have temperatures ranging from 23°C to 32°C; Baguio City from 15°C to 25°C; Laoag City from 25°C to 33°C; Legazpi City from 25°C to 31°C; Metro Cebu from 25°C to 30°C; Puerto Princesa City from 26°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao from 25°C to 31°C. This comprehensive forecast is essential for residents and travelers in the Philippines to prepare for the expected weather conditions.
