Post: Military Announces Neutralization of 28 Rebels in the Visayas in October

MANILA — The Visayas Command (Viscom) has reported significant operational success against the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA) in October, with 28 rebels neutralized across several engagements.

According to Lt. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, Viscom commander, of the 28 individuals, three were killed in action while 25 surrendered to government forces. The surrendered individuals comprised 19 regular fighters and six associated with the Militia ng Bayan. This is in addition to 61 supporters who renounced their allegiance to the CPP-NPA, pledging loyalty to the government. Additionally, government troops captured 30 various firearms and six anti-personnel mines during the month. Arevalo emphasized the military's commitment to defeating the CPP-NPA in the Visayas, alongside supporting electoral processes. He continued to urge remaining rebels to surrender, with the approach of Christmas, to return to peace and the rule of law.
