Post: Media Conference Outlines Exemptions in Health Service Charges Policy

Bandar seri begawan: Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister Of Health, explained about the payment of treatment costs that are exempted for certain patients.

According to Radio Television Brunei, patients currently receiving treatment at the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre and Government Hospitals before 1st July 2025 will have their treatment costs covered until they complete their treatment or are discharged. Additionally, mentally-ill patients under the Mental Health Act, Chapter 257, and patients suffering from infectious diseases under the Infectious Diseases Act (Amendment) Order, 2020, will also be exempted from these charges.

For certain cases where individuals face difficulties in making payments, the Ministry of Health will refer them to the Medical Social Worker Division for assessment to obtain special consideration. For those who qualify, the Ministry of Health will provide assistance as appropriate. This assistance may be obtained from the Patient Charity Aid Fund, Ministry of Health; Brunei Islamic Religious Council; Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; or through payment in installments.
