Post: Mati City Named National Finalist for DSWD ‘Walang Gutom’ Awards

MATI CITY - The city government of Mati, located in Davao Oriental, has been recognized as a national finalist for the Walang Gutom Awards, organized by the Galing Pook Foundation and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mati City is invited to participate in the final presentation and award ceremony scheduled for June 25-26 at the DSWD central office in Quezon City.

The Walang Gutom Awards aim to honor local government units that have implemented outstanding anti-hunger initiatives. This year, 101 local government units competed for the accolade, with only 25 making it to the finals. The DSWD confirmed that among these finalists are five barangays, nine towns, seven cities, and four provinces, including Mati City and the municipality of Asuncion from Davao del Norte. Winners will receive PHP2 million each in recognition of their effective practices in food security.
