Post: Manila to Host Grand Hero’s Welcome for Olympic Gold Medalist Carlos Yulo

MANILA — The City of Manila is organizing a grand celebration to honor Carlos Edriel Yulo, the city's native who secured a gold medal in the Paris Olympics, as announced by Mayor Honey Lacuna on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the city is immensely proud of Yulo, a recipient of the Outstanding Manilan award, and is in the midst of preparations for an elaborate welcome. The festivities will include financial rewards and various forms of recognition to celebrate Yulo’s accomplishment. “The grandest welcome will greet him and all our Paris Olympians. When we meet him, we will present Carlos Yulo cash incentives, awards, and symbols of the eternal gratitude of the proud Capital City of the Philippines,” said Lacuna in a statement.

Yulo achieved remarkable success by winning the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise finals late Saturday, marking the first gold medal for the Philippines in this year's games. In recognition of his and his younger brother’s achievements, the Manila City Council had previously passed City Council Resolution No. 388 last May, following their victories at the Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Yulo is set to compete in the men’s vault finals later Sunday, aiming to add another medal to his impressive Olympic campaign.
