Post: Lyceum Triumphs Over Saint Benilde in NCAA Men’s Basketball

San Juan - The Lyceum of the Philippines University secured a crucial victory against the College of St. Benilde (CSB), 84-81, in the NCAA Season 99 men's basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Arena on Friday. Jearolan Omandac's pivotal three-pointer was instrumental in Lyceum's triumph, helping the team to gain a share of the lead with Mapua in the tournament.

According to Philippines News Agency, Omandac, hailing from Tagum, Davao del Norte, scored nine points, contributing to Lyceum's fifth consecutive win and their 11th victory in 14 games.

Lyceum's coach Gilbert Malabanan praised Omandac's performance and emphasized the team's focus on defense. Enoch Valdez led the scoring for Lyceum with 15 points, along with six rebounds and three steals. Other significant contributions came from John Bravo with 14 points and John Barba with 13 points. Lyceum, which trailed 43-45 at halftime, managed a comeback in the second half. CSB's Miguel Oczon led his team with 19 points, while Ray Carlos and Will Gozum added significant scores. Despite the loss, CSB remains in third place with an 8-5 record. Mapua took the solo lead in the tournament following their victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Wednesday.
