Subic, Zambales, Philippines - In a significant anti-drug operation in Subic, Zambales, authorities have arrested the leader and two members of the Janawi Criminal Group, confiscating about PHP2 million worth of shabu.
According to Philippines News Agency, Brig. General Jose Hidalgo Jr., director of the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3), reported the arrest of Roger Janawi and two unidentified group members on Wednesday night in Barangay Calapacuan. The operation led to the seizure of 296 grams of shabu, valued at PHP2.01 million, and a .38 caliber revolver with ammunition. The successful operation was a collaborative effort between the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Zambales, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Zambales, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit-Zambales, and other police units. Additionally, PRO-3 reported that 161 villages in Central Luzon are now drug-free, with 2,568 of 3,105 villages declared drug-cleared. Aurora, Bataan, and Tarlac provinces have achieved 100 percent drug-cleared barangays. Hidalgo expressed optimism about more barangays and provinces being declared drug-free in the coming months, thanks to the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign by the Philippine National Police in coordination with the PDEA. He urged the public's support and cooperation in combating the drug menace and achieving a drug-free region.
