Human trafficking requires the commitment of all parties to combat it. This is because the act is a crime that has a negative impact on the dignity, freedom and basic rights of millions of people. The matter was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Brunei Darussalam, during the Launching of Seminar on Combatting Human Trafficking and Forced Labor, this morning. The function took place at the Royal Brunei Police Force Headquarters Complex.
Her Excellency Caryn R. McClelland also explained that as long as human trafficking continues to exist, it will continue to hinder the protection of human rights and sabotage the safety, security, and strength of the nations. 70 participants from the law enforcement agencies attended the seminar which is jointly conducted by the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Homeland Security Investigations, United States. The 3-day seminar act as a platform to improve the ability to understand and identify human trafficking. Also present was Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Sulaiman bin Alidin, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police.
