Berakas: Digital transformation is one of the key enablers for realising Wawasan Brunei 2035. Aside from technical skills, value is also important in Artificial Intelligence or AI development. Hence, there is a need for technology that uplifts, empowers, and embeds ethics, inclusivity as well as responsibility in all initiatives. This was highlighted at the launching of the AI Ready ASEAN event in Berakas, 5th June morning.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Doctor Awang Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Ministry of Education, emphasized that as ASEAN moves forward in its digitalisation agenda, there is a need to ensure that the citizens, especially the youth, educators, and parents are not just passive consumers of technology, but active participants in shaping it. The event featured the exchange of funding grant agreements between the ASEAN Foundation and the local implementing partners. This was followed by an interactive “Hour of Code” workshop, serving as one of the primary activities under the programme’s awareness-raising campaign on AI.
