Post: Korban Ceremonies in Brunei Muara and Tutong Districts Distribute Meat to Needy

Brunei Muara: Korban or the Rites of Sacrifice ceremonies were conducted in several regions, emphasizing community solidarity and supporting the needy through the distribution of sacrificial meat. This initiative serves as a reminder of obedience, sacrifice, and the purification of oneself and one’s property.

According to Radio Television Brunei, at the Az-Zakireen Mosque in RPN Kampung Meragang, 24 buffaloes and a cattle were sacrificed. The meat was distributed by Awang Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, the Acting Director of Mosque Affairs, to 175 participants and 68 recipients who are poor and destitute.

Similarly, the Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque Takmir Committee in Kampung Sungai Akar organised an event where 7 buffaloes were sacrificed. The meat helped 30 underprivileged individuals. The event also featured a forum discussing the virtues and meaning of sacrifice from a family perspective, in collaboration with the Kampung Sungai Akar Consultative Council.

In Kampung Katimahar, the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Takmir Committee sacrificed 10 buffaloes. The meat was given to 52 poor and destitute recipients residing in Kampung Katimahar, Kampung Lugu, and STKRJ.

The Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Takmir Committee in Tutong Town, in collaboration with the mosque’s Muslimah group and ‘Belia ‘Ibadurrahman,’ also held a ceremony. They sacrificed 5 buffaloes, distributing the meat to participants and 65 recipients from Kampung Panchor, Kampung Petani, and Kampung Sengkarai, as well as the public.

Additionally, the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association held their Korban ceremony, sacrificing 2 buffaloes. The meat was distributed by Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas, the Chief Commissioner, to participants, scout members, and the asnaf, which includes the scout’s families.
