Post: Journey to Recovery: Government and Society Collaborate to Combat Drug Abuse

Bandar Seri Begawan: Drug abuse poses a significant threat to the nation, impacting the country, society, and religion, and leading to an increase in criminal behavior. The government is actively addressing the symptoms of drug abuse by establishing treatment and rehabilitation centers aimed at assisting former drug users on their path to recovery. Today’s Friday sermon centered on the theme ‘Journey to Recovery,’ emphasizing the need for attention to various aspects in the recovery process, such as building confidence and identity, along with fostering direction and commitment to shift towards a positive life.

According to Radio Television Brunei, support is extended by various parties, including public and private sectors, offering suitable employment to those in recovery regardless of their past. This support allows them to reconstruct their lives and enhances their motivation. The Imam or Prayer leader emphasized the importance for former drug users, who have successfully recovered and are given employment opportunities, to make the most of these chances and maintain a healthy lifestyle. They are urged to strive for independence and seek halal sustenance as they rebuild their lives.
