Increase in Conversions to Islam in Brunei Darussalam
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Brunei Darussalam has witnessed an increase in the number of people converting to Islam this year, with the total reaching 355 conversions from January to November. A significant proportion of these conversions, 92 individuals, were from the Tutong District. The trend continues to grow, as evidenced by a recent conversion ceremony in Kampung Bukit Udal, Tutong District.
According to Radio Television Brunei, During the ceremony, 30-year-old Rosjalinawati binti Paras adopted Islam and took the name Dayang Nur Azharina binti Abdullah Paras. Her 7-year-old son, Norjasrol bin Normie, also converted and is now known as Awang Muhammad Norjasrol bin Abdullah. The event was attended by a Member of the Legislative Council, marking another milestone in the country’s religious landscape.
