Health and Education Ministries Outline Measures for Non-Compliance with Food Safety Procedures
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – In light of recent food safety concerns, the Brunei Minister of Health and the Acting Minister of Education detailed the measures to be taken against entities failing to comply with food safety procedures.
According to Radio Television Brunei, The Minister of Health emphasized that under the Public Health Food Act, Chapter 182, companies found guilty of violating food safety standards could face fines, imprisonment for up to five years, or both. The Brunei Food Authority is currently compiling evidence and will consult with the Attorney General’s Office for further action. Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Education highlighted the crucial role of suppliers in ensuring the consumability of food, indicating that stricter enforcement and oversight of food safety standards are imminent in the educational sector.
