Post: Guiuan, Eastern Samar Records Second Consecutive Day of Extreme Heat

Guiuan, Eastern Samar—The heat index in Guiuan soared to 50 degrees Celsius on Sunday, marking the second consecutive day of extreme temperatures after reaching 51°C the previous day.

According to Philippines News Agency, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the forecasted heat index was significantly lower, at 41°C for Sunday and projected to be 42°C on Monday.

Other regions also reported high temperatures, with Roxas City, Capiz, registering a heat index of 48°C. Metro Manila recorded heat indices ranging from 42°C to 44°C, accompanied by afternoon thunderstorms. The highest recorded actual temperature was in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija at 37.3°C, while Pasay City saw a maximum of 36.3°C.

This year's highest heat index so far was 53°C, reported on April 28 in Iba, Zambales. Other notable recordings include 50°C in Clark, Pampanga on May 6 and in Dagupan, Pangasinan on May 14.
