Nazareth School of NU Triumphs Over FEU in UAAP Junior Basketball Opener
Quezon City, Philippines – Nazareth School of National University (NU) achieved a stunning 70-56 victory against defending champion Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU) in the opening game of the UAAP Season 86 high school boys’ basketball tournament at the Amoranto Sports Complex.
According to Philippines News Agency, Colins Akowe led the Bulldogs with a remarkable performance, scoring 17 points, grabbing 21 rebounds, and contributing three blocks and two assists. Mac-Mac Alfanta and Prince Barraca also played key roles, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively. For FEU, Jedric Daa and Liam Salangsang led the scoring, but their efforts were not enough to secure a win. In other matches, Ateneo de Manila University overcame the University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) with a score of 93-86. Ziv Espinas, Third Ebdane, and Kris Porter were pivotal in Ateneo’s victory. UPIS’s Daryl Valdeavilla, Bruce Tubongbanua, and Rocco Melicor made significant contributions in their team’s effort. De La Salle-Zobel also marked a win against the University of the East, 79-76, with Keiffer Alas scoring 32 points and leading the team. Season 85 runner-up Adamson University also secured a win against the University of Santo Tomas, with a final score of 95-81. The tournament opener sets an exciting tone for the season, showcasing the talents and competitive spirit of the participating teams.
