Lianyungang: Transformations in the regional and international security threat landscape, including the latest crime trends such as cybercrime and terrorism, was the theme of the ‘2025 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum Lianyungang’. The conference, an annual event, was jointly organised by the Ministry of Public Security, the People’s Republic of China, and the Association for Friendship under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of China. It took place in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, China.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Brunei Darussalam delegation to the conference was led by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister for Security and Law at the Prime Minister’s Office. The delegation included Awang Zulhusam bin Haji Abdul Samad, Acting Permanent Secretary for Security and Law at the Prime Minister’s Office; Yang Amat Mulia D-C-P Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Saifullah bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Royal Brunei Police Force; and Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Zalani bin Haji Ismail, Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau.
Earlier, Brunei’s delegation held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Jia Lijun, Member of the Party Committee and Director of the Political Department, Ministry of Public Security, China. During the meeting, both delegations expressed satisfaction with the close cooperative relations between Brunei Darussalam and China, especially in the field of security. They agreed to explore opportunities to strengthen cooperation in addressing issues of common interest.
The delegation also attended the ‘Public Security Tech Expo’ held in conjunction with the conference and visited Xi’an City in Shaanxi Province, China. Invited by the Ministry of Public Security of Shaanxi Province, the delegation held meetings with leaders there and observed advanced technologies being utilized in the province. The visit also offered insights into innovative approaches in tackling drug abuse in Xi’an City.
