First Meeting Held to Establish Committee for Brunei’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
Bandar Seri Begawan: The First Meeting of the Establishment of the Committee for the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, marking 60 years of the reign of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in 2027, was held at the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the meeting was co-chaired by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, the Chief of Adat Istiadat. During the opening sabda, the Chief of Adat Istiadat reflected on the Royal Wedding Ceremony of 2024, highlighting the importance of applying the experience and lessons from that event to improve the management and execution of the upcoming Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
The Diamond Jubilee Celebration is expected to be a significant event for Brunei Darussalam, offering citizens and residents a chance to honor the achievements of His Majesty throughout his reign. His leadership has been characterized by a focus on the welfare and peace of the country. The meeting was also attended by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, who served as Co-Chairs.
The agenda included a briefing on the structure and membership of the Steering Committee and Sectoral Committees for the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. The discussions emphasized the necessity for comprehensive preparations and action plans under the respective Sectoral Committees to ensure the success of the celebrations.
