First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Imelda Marcos Tour Renovated Marikina Shoe Museum

Marikina City – First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, accompanied by her mother-in-law, Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, visited the newly renovated Museo ng Sapatos in Marikina City this Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, First District Rep. Marjorie Ann Teodoro, hosted the Marcos family members, guiding them through the museum. The museum prominently features about 800 pairs of shoes from the extensive collection of the former first lady, Imelda Marcos, and has recently undergone significant upgrades to enhance its display and visitor experience.

Mayor Teodoro emphasized that the museum serves as more than just a collection site; it is a tribute to the Filipino artistry and craftsmanship, symbolizing the nation’s rich history and ongoing progress. “Through these renovations, we aim to provide a more immersive and educational experience for all visitors, showcasing the pride and craftsmanship of Marikina’s shoemakers,” he stated. The shoe museum, which opened in 2001, continues to stand as a landmark reflecting the esteemed tradition of shoemaking in Marikina City.
