Kampong Ayer: The Fire and Rescue Department held an Internal Rescue Operations Training, termed ‘Exercise Lapu’, in the Kampong Ayer area. It involved simulating fire emergencies as well as search and rescue operations in school buildings and on the water.
According to Radio Television Brunei, among the objectives of the training was to test the effectiveness of Standard Operating Procedures in emergency situations on water and to improve the preparedness and efficiency of rescue personnel. The simulation involved several scenarios such as a classroom fire in a school, victims trapped and falling into the water, and the evacuation of school children to a safe place.
The implementation of the training was well planned to ensure that there was no disruption to public safety and all activities were carried out under the control and monitoring of the Fire and Rescue Department.
