Exchange Programme Reception Ceremony

The Embassy of the United States of America in Brunei Darussalam hosted a brunch reception for recently returned alumni of U.S. government exchange programs. The event also marked 10 years of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative, YSEALI. It took place this morning in Kampung Tungku.

Present was Her Excellency Caryn McClelland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Brunei Darussalam. The reception brought together approximately 25 locals who participated in various U.S. government-funded exchange programmes in the last quarter of 2022, such as YSEALI, the Fulbright Foreign Student Programme, Fulbright U.S-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Programme, and International Visitor Leadership Program, IVLP. Established in 2013, YSEALI is the U.S. State Department's flagship youth exchange program focused on Southeast Asia apart from ASEAN socio-cultural partnership.
