Post: Drug Syndicates, The Universal Enemy: Friday Sermon Highlights the Dangers of Drug Abuse

Bandar seri begawan: Islam strictly prohibits its ummah from engaging in activities that harm themselves and society, such as drinking alcohol, gambling, corruption, and drug abuse, including all substances that impair the mind. This prohibition stems from the belief that anything intoxicating or sanity-removing is haram or forbidden. Therefore, individuals must protect themselves and avoid involvement in illegal drug activities, which are banned not only by Islamic and national laws but also due to the potential adverse effects on individuals and their loved ones. This reminder was emphasized during today's Friday Sermon titled, 'Drug Syndicates, The Universal Enemy'.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the sermon underscored the negative impacts and harms caused by the abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs, such as impairing the mind and damaging internal organs, making it difficult to overcome addiction. The situation worsens when drug addicts resort to violence, vandalize property, and inflict injuries, ultimately leading to the destruction of household institutions, devastation of family harmony, and adverse effects on societal well-being. Additionally, drug abuse can trigger various social issues, including increased crime rates and threats to national security and stability.
