DPWH Set to Reopen Kamuning Flyover Southbound in August, Ahead of Schedule

QUEZON CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) has announced plans to reopen the southbound lane of the Kamuning flyover in Quezon City by the end of August, pending favorable weather conditions.

According to Philippines News Agency, in her recent communication with the Philippine News Agency, the reopening could occur earlier than anticipated if weather permits uninterrupted progress on the necessary repairs. “Unless we are hampered by the weather condition, we will focus on the under slab of the flyover,” Malaluan added, indicating that the project is currently ahead of its original schedule, which had projected a reopening in October.

The Kamuning flyover, which has been under repair since April 25, is undergoing rehabilitation as part of broader governmental efforts to ensure infrastructure stability in the event of earthquakes. Following the completion of this project, the DPWH plans to begin similar rehabilitation works on the Magallanes flyover southbound in Makati City.

Additionally, the DPWH Quezon City District Engineering Office has scheduled road repair and reblocking activities to take place from Friday night through Monday, affecting major roads including EDSA southbound, Sgt. Rivera, A. Bonifacio Avenue, Quirino Highway, Tandang Sora, Sto. Domingo Avenue, Congressional Avenue Extension, North Avenue northbound, and Mindanao Avenue southbound. Motorists are advised to expect potential traffic slowdowns and to consider alternate routes to minimize inconvenience.

This infrastructure maintenance is part of the DPWH-NCR’s ongoing initiative to enhance road safety and resilience throughout the region.
