Post: Dinagat Islands Residents Receive Cash Aid Amid Inflation Challenges

DINAGAT ISLANDS – On Wednesday, 414 residents from seven towns across Dinagat Islands received financial support totaling PHP1.2 million from the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The cash aid is part of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program, which aims to alleviate the financial strain caused by high inflation rates.

According to Philippines News Agency, each recipient was granted PHP3,000 to help cover the cost of basic necessities such as food and clothing.

Governor Nilo Demerey, Jr., expressed that this aid would provide immediate relief for families currently facing economic hardships. The beneficiaries, identified as individuals in financial distress, are expected to use the financial support for essential purchases. Residents like Marven Ponce from Barangay Sering in Basilisa town and Hazel Homoc from Barangay Santiago in Loreto town have expressed gratitude, noting the timeliness of the assistance amid their current difficulties.

Governor Demerey further stated that the provincial government, in collaboration with the relevant agencies, will persist in delivering prompt aid to address the needs of the residents throughout the island province.
