Department of Immigration and National Registration Reports 735 Deportations in 2024

Bandar Seri Begawan: The Department of Immigration and National Registration has reported that throughout 2024, a total of 735 foreign nationals were deported for various offences. These actions were the result of 347 operations conducted both independently and in collaboration with other enforcement agencies.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the operations were part of an effort that involved multiple enforcement bodies, including the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Narcotics Control Bureau, and the Royal Customs and Excise Department. Apart from deportations, 44 individuals faced court charges, and 2,849 people were issued compound fines, amounting to a total collection of $1,319,700 over the past year.

The most common offence recorded was the failure of employers or individuals to extend the work pass period for their employees. This was followed by cases of foreign nationals overstaying in the country after their passes expired and violations of immigration passport conditions by foreigners.
