MANILA — The Department of Agriculture (DA) is poised for operational and managerial changes with the installation of Francisco Tiu Laurel as the new secretary. The announcement was made public on Saturday during a news forum, signaling a forthcoming shift in the department’s approach under new leadership.
According to Philippines News Agency, the agency is preparing for transformations that are expected to take place within weeks. De Mesa highlighted the potential positive impact of Laurel’s expertise, gained through his involvement in the agricultural sector and as a member of the Private Sector Advisory Council. On Friday, Laurel, who leads Frabelle Fishing Corporation, took the oath for his new position in the DA, succeeding President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who had held the post since June 2022.
