Davao City Gears Up for 39th Kadayawan Festival with Cultural Showcases
DAVAO CITY — The 39th Kadayawan Festival is set to commence this Friday at Kadayawan Village in Magsaysay Park, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of Davao City’s 11 indigenous tribes.
According to Philippines News Agency, head of the City Tourism and Operations Office, preparations for the festival are complete, including the renovation of the Kadayawan Tribal Village, a centerpiece event that provides insights into the lifestyles and traditions of the local tribes. “We are all set for the Kadayawan Festival,” Romero stated in a Wednesday interview. She described how the tribal village allows visitors to immerse themselves in the tribes’ distinctive cultures, experiencing traditional music, dances, craftsmanship, and artistry firsthand.
This year’s festival will also introduce the Pananam sa Kadayawan Food and Products Fair, a new feature designed to showcase the delicacies and crafts of the city’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes. “We wanted to highlight the mouthwatering food and products crafted by the 11 tribes through the Pananam, which will run from August 9 to 18,” Romero explained, noting that the fair will take place at Magsaysay Park.
