Caraga — The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) has deployed a substantial force of 2,688 police personnel to ensure safety and security during the observance of 'Undas', encompassing All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day from November 1 to 2. Major Jennifer Omiter, chief of the PRO-13 Information Office, detailed that the security measures will cover cemeteries, memorial parks, churches, transportation hubs, and other significant gathering places throughout the region.
According to Philippines News Agency, checkpoints will be strategically established along major highways in the region, aiming to guarantee the safety of both motorists and travelers, with particular attention to those visiting from other areas. The police force will coordinate closely with other security sectors, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, PRO-13 director, emphasized the thorough preparation for 'Undas', with operational guidelines issued to all five provincial police offices in the region, supplemented by support units from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion. Kraft underscored the importance of maintaining checkpoints, establishing police assistance centers in every cemetery, and fostering collaboration with local government units, civilian volunteer organizations, and civic clubs. He also urged the public to be vigilant, take necessary precautions when leaving their homes unattended, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police unit. The comprehensive security measures are in place to accommodate the thousands of residents expected to visit the graves of their loved ones during 'Undas'.
