Commission on Filipinos Overseas Opens New North Luzon Office to Serve Migrant Workers
BAGUIO — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) unveiled its new satellite office in North Luzon on Wednesday, designed to streamline services for Filipino immigrants in regions 1, 2, and 3, particularly for those needing immigrant visa clearances and other related services.
According to Philippines News Agency, the new facility leverages improved road access to Baguio, making it easier for residents of North Luzon, where approximately 32 percent of Filipino migrant workers originate. The office aims to support migrants heading primarily to the United States, Canada, and Japan, reflecting the broader “Bagong Pilipinas” initiative of the Marcos administration, which focuses on enhancing service accessibility and client satisfaction.
The satellite office will offer a range of services, including pre-departure orientation seminars (PDOS) which are essential for all immigrants granted visas. These seminars aim to prepare migrants for the cultural shifts and adjustments required abroad, especially for those migrating for personal reasons, such as marriage to a foreign national. The Baguio office is equipped to handle up to 50 clients per day, with appointments scheduled through the CFO’s official website.
