Post: College of Saint Benilde and University of Perpetual Help Advance in NCAA Volleyball Finals

SAN JUAN CITY — The College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers and the University of Perpetual Help Altas are on the brink of clinching titles in the NCAA Season 99 volleyball finals after their respective victories on Sunday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Lady Blazers secured a comprehensive win against Letran with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-14 in the first game of the women's best-of-three series. Michelle Gamit and Gayle Pascual led the scoring with 14 points each, and Zamantha Nolasco contributed an additional 12 points. This victory places Saint Benilde just one win away from securing a third consecutive title. Their opponents, the Lady Knights, faced challenges despite contributions from Gia Marcel Maquilang and Marie Judiel Nitura, who scored 10 and nine points respectively. They aim to revive their title hopes in the upcoming Game 2 scheduled for May 26.

In the men’s division, the University of Perpetual Help Altas edged out Emilio Aguinaldo College in a closely contested match with scores of 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 25-19. Louie Ramirez, the reigning Most Valuable Player, was pivotal for the Altas, scoring 23 points along with securing 23 excellent receptions. Jefferson Marapoc and Kobe Tabuga also played key roles, contributing significantly to the Altas' push towards what could be their fourth consecutive title and ninth in the past 12 seasons.

The potential deciding Game 3 for both the men's and women's titles is set for June 1, if necessary.
