Post: Central Luzon’s Department of Tourism Boosts Efforts for Tourist Safety

Central Luzon – The Department of Tourism-Central Luzon (DOT-3) is intensifying its initiatives to ensure a safe and secure environment for tourists in the region. DOT-3 Regional Director Richard Daenos, in a recent interview, revealed that a series of seminar orientations on disaster risk reduction and crisis management for the tourism industry is underway from November 13 to 16. These seminars are targeted at all DOT-accredited tourism enterprises in the region and aim to enhance safety measures and mitigate the impacts of crises and disasters that affect the tourism sector.

According to Philippines News Agency, Daenos, the event is seeing participation from managers, security, and safety officers in the tourism sector. He emphasized the importance of developing and refining the skills of industry stakeholders in handling crises, be they man-made or natural. Experts from the Office of Civil Defense Region 3 and Police Regional Office 3 will provide overviews and strategies on disaster response and emergency management, contributing to faster recovery efforts. The seminars are designed to help participants in crafting plans for a safer, more adaptive, and resilient community geared towards sustainable tourism development.

Daenos also noted that these seminar orientations are structured to enhance the role of industry stakeholders as effective tourism front-liners, capable of providing exemplary service to visitors. He underscored the DOT's close collaboration with local government units and stakeholders to bolster tourism governance and ensure the safety and security of tourists in the region.
