Cebu City Unveils Super Family Health Center to Enhance Local Medical Services

CEBU CITY – A new Super Family Health Center has been launched in Cebu City, offering a comprehensive range of medical services to residents near a local military camp. The center opened on Monday, as part of a collaborative effort between the Department of Health (DOH) and the city government to alleviate pressure on public hospitals and improve healthcare accessibility.

According to Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, the establishment of the Cebu City Super Family Health Center, which cost PHP13 million, represents a commitment by the city to enhance healthcare services through public-private partnerships. “I would like to call it a partnership, with DOH as the overseer,” Garcia stated during a press conference at the center’s inauguration in Barangay Apas.

DOH-7 Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas highlighted that the center is primarily focused on primary care with an emphasis on disease prevention. It is equipped to handle key health programs such as immunization, nutrition, disease prevention, and prenatal care. Additionally, the facility includes an X-ray unit, ultrasound facility, pharmacy, and supply room. “The role of the DOH is for technical advisory, assistance, and regulations,” Bernadas explained, noting that the operation of the center will be managed by the city government.
