Camarines Sur Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Earn PHP 449K from Innovative Trade Fair

CAMARINES SUR – Agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in Camarines Sur achieved significant financial gains by earning PHP 449,710 through a series of trade fairs organized by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) at the Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office (PPO) headquarters. This event was part of the “Agraryo Merkado sa Kampo” project, a collaborative effort between DAR-Bicol and the Police Regional Office 5.

According to Philippines news Agency, the DAR-Camarines Sur II agrarian reform program officer, the initiative hosted five sales from April 15 to June 28, successfully linking ARBOs to institutional buyers and direct market consumers. The project not only provided a venue for selling farm harvests but also aimed to continue these partnerships to enhance the financial stability and support for farmer households.

Renato Bequillo, the Provincial Agrarian Reform Program officer of DAR Camarines Sur II, explained that the bi-monthly trade fair-style market held in front of the PNP headquarters in Naga City offers a crucial platform for local farmers. This market allows them to sell an array of homegrown products including fresh vegetables, fruits, processed foods, and root crops directly to consumers at fair prices. Bequillo highlighted the dual benefits of promoting sustainable farming and boosting the local economy.

Bequillo also emphasized the broader social impact of supporting the Agraryo Merkado sa Kampo. He stated, “When you purchase from Agraryo Merkado sa Kampo, you’re not just buying quality goods. You’re supporting agrarian reform, reducing social inequalities, and significantly boosting the livelihoods of our local farmers and their families.”
