Cagayan de Oro Encourages Online Business Permit Renewal to Ease Congestion
Cagayan de Oro – The local government of Cagayan de Oro is urging business owners to utilize online platforms for renewing business permits, aiming to alleviate congestion at city hall. In an interview on Friday, Assistant City Treasurer Leonil Mistula noted that out of 22,633 business permit renewals from January 3 to February 28, only 1,108 were processed online. The city’s initiative aligns with the national government’s Ease of Doing Business campaign and seeks to offer convenience to business owners.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mistula mentioned that while an off-site registration and renewal plan at a local mall is not yet ready, there are plans to establish a one-stop business shop by 2025 to facilitate year-round transactions. The city officials also plan to intensify their education campaign to encourage more local traders to take advantage of online business transactions. As of November 9 this year, the city government’s business permit licensing division registered 31,652 business permits for renewal and registration, a slight increase from the 29,696 recorded during the same period last year.
