Bandar Seri Begawan: The session at the Prime Minister's Office focused on climate change, with deliberations emphasizing the country's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, elaborated on Brunei's progress since the introduction of the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP) in 2020.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat's upgrade to the Brunei Climate Change Office (BCCO) reflects the additional responsibilities in managing Brunei's commitments under the Paris Agreement and achieving the targets set by the BNCCP. The BCCO is instrumental in overseeing the country's greenhouse gas reporting system and implementing a framework to reduce emissions. It also manages the establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change, positioning Brunei as a key player in international climate forums, including the UNFCC's Conference of Parties (C.O.P.).
