Brunei Marks Ilal Hijrah 1446 with National Celebrations


Brunei Darussalam celebrated Ilal Hijrah 1446 with a series of events held at mosques, surau, and religious halls across the nation on the afternoon of July 6th. The main event was attended by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and his sons at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampung Kiarong.



According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony began with the End of Hijrah Year Doa, recited twice and led by the Minister of Religious Affairs, marking the transition into the new year. The event was characterized by traditional reverence, including 21 cannon shots to herald the arrival of the new Hijrah year. The mass Fardu Maghrib prayer and subsequent readings of the Hijrah New Year Doa were led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim. A mass sunat hajat prayer and a Doa Selamat also featured in the day’s observances. The celebrations, which reflected deep gratitude and piety, were organized jointly by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Health.
