Post: Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia Issue Joint Statement at APEC 2023

In a significant development at the 30th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM), a joint statement was issued by Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The statement highlighted various global concerns and reiterated messages from the Resolution of the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Israeli Aggression Against the Palestinian People.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the leaders expressed grave concern over the human suffering and the adverse impact of wars and conflicts worldwide. They emphasized that these conflicts could have substantial consequences on the global economy. The statement called for an immediate, durable, and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. It underscored the necessity of continuous and unhindered provision of essential goods and services to civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The leaders reaffirmed that a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be achieved through peaceful means. They emphasized adherence to relevant United Nations resolutions, including the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council Resolutions, and the two-State solution based on international law.
