Post: Brunei Hosts Virtual ASEAN Workshop on Software Evaluation During Type Approval

Bandar Seri Begawan: Brunei Darussalam, through the Weights and Measures, SDT Unit under the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, recently hosted a virtual training program on Software Evaluation During Type Approval. This initiative is part of the ‘Strengthening Quality Infrastructure in ASEAN 2023-2026’ project.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Awang Allen On Hsien Yung, Director of the IBE Division, underscored the critical role of measurement software embedded within instruments in ensuring trust, transparency, and traceability. He also emphasized the importance of digitalizing measurement systems, which should prompt regulators to maintain legal compliance while fostering innovation.

Brunei’s hosting of the event reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening regulatory frameworks, empowering local authorities, and actively contributing to ASEAN’s broader integration and quality infrastructure efforts. The training was organized in collaboration with PTB, the Federal Republic of Germany, the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia, and the ASEAN Working Group on Legal Metrology. The first session of the program was attended by 61 participants from ASEAN member states and the Federal Republic of Germany.
