Brunei-E.U Seminar on AI Highlights Strategic Importance for Development

Kiulap: The European Union and Brunei Darussalam Partnership Facility acknowledged the urgent need to address shared challenges like the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion through a Policy Outreach and Exchange Seminar on AI. The seminar took place at a hotel in Kiulap on the afternoon of June 24.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the keynote address by the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications highlighted the strategic importance of AI for Brunei. Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim stressed that the country views AI as both an enabler and a catalyst for innovation and development. The technology is seen as a means to support more efficient public services, improve access to healthcare and education, drive innovation, and enhance economic resilience.

The seminar aimed to promote dialogue and collaboration between the EU and Brunei Darussalam, focusing on leveraging AI for sustainable development while addressing the associated risks and challenges.
