Post: MoU Signing on Agricultural and Fisheries Cooperation Between Brunei and Philippines

Manila: Brunei Darussalam, through its Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Philippines to enhance cooperation in agricultural and fisheries sectors. The signing ceremony took place in Manila, Republic of Philippines.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the MoU was signed on behalf of Brunei by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doktor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. Representing the Philippines was His Excellency Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Junior, Secretary of the Philippine Department of Agriculture. The event was witnessed by Her Excellency Megawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Manan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Philippines.

The MoU Signing Ceremony was held in conjunction with the 47th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry and related meetings. The agreement aims to improve cooperation and information sharing in agriculture and fisheries, develop capacity, and enhance human resource capabilities in both nations. It is anticipated that the MoU will lead to increased market access, investments, and the involvement of the private sector in these sectors. Additionally, it is expected to enhance the competitiveness and export capability of both countries and contribute to the diversification of their economies.
