Post: Brunei Darussalam Experiencing Slight Haze

Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon period, where south-westerly wind is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions. The country has been experiencing slight hazy conditions since 25th July, until 2nd August. These hazy conditions are due to the transboundary smoke haze from neighbouring countries blown in by the prevailing South-westerly winds. The Meteorological Observation Station recorded horizontal visibility reducing between 7 to 9 kilometres.

The country is expected to continue experiencing slight hazy condition for the coming few weeks due to much less rainfall activities locally. The surface air temperature is expected to be warmer than usual, with the maximum temperature expected to range between 33 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius. However, active weather conditions are expected to start on 2nd August, until Saturday, 5th August, due to indirect influence of Typhoon Khanun. Occasional heavy and thundery showers are expected to affect many areas of the country. Squally showers are also expected to occur at times.
