Brunei Darussalam Enters Inter-Monsoon Season Marking Transitional Weather Changes

Bandar seri begawan: Brunei Darussalam is set to enter the inter-monsoon season, a transitional phase following the Southwest Monsoon and preceding the Northeast Monsoon, beginning in the first week of October. This period is anticipated to last until the end of November 2025.

According to Radio Television Brunei, climatological records indicate that thunderstorms are more frequent during the inter-monsoon season compared to other times of the year. Typically, October experiences an average of 21 rain days, while November sees around 22 days of rainfall. The mornings are generally expected to be fair, with isolated showers likely over coastal regions around midday.

Thunderstorms are predicted to occur mainly over inland areas during the afternoon, spreading to coastal and sea areas at night and potentially persisting into the early morning hours of the following day. Light winds from various directions are expected in the morning and at night, transitioning to winds from the Northwest in the afternoon. Additionally, wave conditions at sea are forecasted to be generally slight. International climate centres’ forecast models suggest there is a possibility of a La Ni±a event developing over the Pacific Ocean between October and December.
